Air Quality Index (AQI) Currents

Air Quality observation data from AirNow.gov is available for the contiguous United States at approximately 8 km resolution.  This data is based on the most current air quality observations and is archived in the DataCloud for 12 hours.

Ozone Index

datatype=aqi
var=ozoneindex

This variable gives hourly ground-level ozone measurements at 8 km resolution for the contiguous United States.  The Ozone Index is based on the most current air quality observations.  Hourly data is available from 48 hours in the past until the current time.  Ozone Index values are unitless and typically range from 0 to 500.  Information on what the values represent can be found in the unit explanation page

PM2.5 Index

datatype=aqi
var=pm25index

This variable gives hourly measurements of 2.5 μm-diameter or less particulate matter at 8 km resolution for the contiguous United States.  The PM2.5 Index is based on the most current air quality observations.  Hourly data is available from 48 hours in the past until the current time.  PM2.5 Index values are unitless and typically range from 0 to 500.  Information on what the values represent can be found in the unit explanation page
